7 things I Wish I Knew Before Starting a Business
I left my decade-long corporate social media marketing role to start Klo Marketing in 2020. I was a master in my trade but (like many founders) had no formal training or education in the facets of running a business.
For all of my fellow entrepreneurs who are just getting started, keep going. Above all, consistency is key. Below are my top 7 things I wish I knew before starting a business.
💼 Disappointment = an unmet expectation. Set clear expectations with everyone around you.
💼 Write down the steps of your processes for all of your services; this way, it’s easily transferable to those you hire.
💼 This is your first time starting a business, so don’t be so harsh with yourself. You are always learning, evolving, and endlessly growing.
💼 Consistently have personalized client touch points to be an integral part of clients' lives.
💼 Automate client onboarding through Zapier and Flodesk.
💼 Organize all resources (clients and internal) and processes in Notion.
💼 Invest in yourself in the early days—you’re not an expert at everything. Invest in a business coach focused on your trade, leadership, scaling, bookkeeper/accountant, and communities with like-minded people.
To my fellow business owners - I would love to hear from you on what you wish you had known before you dove into entrepreneurship.
